Photo Gallery: Black Lives Matter by Sukhjeven Chumber

Artist Sukhjeven Chumber displayed a series of photographs at Light House which were taken at a Black Lives Matter protest at West Park, Wolverhampton during the first Covid-19 Lockdown in 2020.

“The idea of the photographs was to capture the raw, passionate, emotions and power of everyone who came out to protest against what happened to George Floyd in the USA and also to put an end to racism in daily lives,” comments Chumber.

“I hope people will engage with the work and look at what's gone wrong and how to stop it happening again.”

The artist explores a variety of topics in his work around social and cultural identities in society; "The BLM movement is a powerful symbol right now and WE all should listen and learn what is happening, I too have been a victim of racism".
