CBC nominated for an award

Creative Black Country has been nominated by members of the public for the Promoting Cultural Diversity award at the Creative Academies Network HOME Symposium event.

The event celebrates the communities of Sandwell and will feature free food and drink from around the globe, performances, exhibitions and of course the awards ceremony.

HOME: Heart of Sandwell (Routes to Roots) researches and captures the untold stories of multi-cultural communities that have settled in creating ‘homes’ for themselves within the area of Sandwell. The project gives a voice to underrepresented cultures by capturing their stories in audio and film in order to produce a heritage montage that will be an official historical document for Sandwell Archives.

Creative Academies have a finale celebration that will be a one-day symposium event which will showcase all of HOME’s success in the heart of Sandwell at the Town Hall, West Bromwich. The symposium will take attendees on a cultural journey via a range of mediums that explore local people from all over the world while broadening perspectives, breaking down barriers, sharing cultures and celebrating diversity!

The day will consist of:

  • Interactive Workshops
  • FREE Activities
  • Cultural Catwalk
  • Guest Speakers
  • Launch of the HOME Website
  • Documentary
  • Cultural food experiences
