Participant call out for Asylum Art Gallery’s PRESENCE – Silent Walk of solidarity event this March

Asylum Art Gallery are looking for participants to take part in their PRESENCE – Silent Walk of solidarity event on Saturday 10 March 2018 at 1pm in Wolverhampton.

Women will silently walk through Wolverhampton city centre dressed in white, wearing purple sashes and be giving out cards with the quote ‘deeds not words’. Participants will be stopping at historically profound locations in the city and forming lines holding hands.

A photography exhibition will be held afterwards showing portraits of the participants with statements of who they walked for. The idea is to provide a safe space for women to engage with each other while working towards a collective experience. The women will stand together in silence for themselves and each other, then present to the local areas and engage communities in talking about taking action for the representation of women.

Asylum Art Gallery will be holding a meeting on Saturday 3 March at 2pm for women interested in taking part with the walk. Portraits and stories will be collected for the exhibition of the walk which will take place on the evening of Satuday 10 March, 6pm-9pm at Asylum Art Gallery.
