Looking forward to the year ahead

Christmas is fast approaching and as much as I’m looking forward to having some time off, I’m also looking forward to supporting the next round of Creative Connections commissions next year.

Back in 2020 when the pandemic first reared its head and forced us all inside to consume the entire contents of our fridges whilst debating which rooms needed decorating, Creative Black Country developed a new strand of work called Creative Connections to support local artists and people.

The aim of Creative Connections was to share creativity during lockdown and social distancing and also to increase opportunities for people to experience great creative and cultural experiences in Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton by bringing individuals together to share new experiences around the arts. It proved to be very popular and following a second round of commissions that took place this year, a third round was announced for 2022.

As restrictions continue to slowly ease, the next round of commissions encouraged creative responses which bring fun, joy and creativity to local people in the Black Country in 2022 as opposed to being exclusively focused on lockdown related projects.

Over the last two years I’ve supported some wonderful projects from this new strand of work and the creativity and imagination from local people and artists never fails to amaze me. Details on the commissioned projects will be announced early next year so please keep an eye on our website and social media pages as there will be some fantastic opportunities to get involved in a wide variety of exciting projects.
