Halesowen High Street Residency - assistant position opportunity

Artists David Rowan and Joseph Potts will be starting a ‘Dudley Creates’ residency at the Cornbow Centre in Halesowen in April and are looking for an Assistant Artist to help with the project. This is a great opportunity for someone organised who is looking to gain some valuable experience working with the community on a new project with two talented individuals.


Project:
 Dudley Creates ‘On the high street’ will work to people who live and work in Halesowen:

“We want to create a photographic and video record that focuses on peoples experiences over the last few years; how do they feel about Halesowen high street today and what do they predict the future holds?

We want to give people the opportunity to tell us about themselves and to participate in the process of creating video and photography of themselves.

Our photographic portraits of people and short video interviews are designed to capture how the people of Halesowen have been changed by recent history. This is a unique opportunity to create new work directly in the heart of a neighbourhood and capture material directly relevant to local people and their experiences.”

Outline: You will assist the lead artists with photography and video portrait & documentation work based in a shop unit in Halesowen’s Cornbow Centre you will help manage some of the documentation of the project, social media output, photo and video workflows, lighting, logistics and general help managing the shop unit as well as liaising with the Cornbow Centre Management.

You must be available for the following dates: 23rd 30th April, 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th, 30th May, with the possibility of an additional day during early June.

Total Fee: £1100

Additional Info: Ideally David and someone with local / residential knowledge and experience of Halesowen Town and with contemporary visual art, photography and video production experience, contactable by phone and email.
