Celebrating 10 Years: The power of creative partnerships

Celebrating 10 Years: The power of creative partnerships

U Island CIC and arts organisation Juneau Projects worked with families from Russian speaking countries as well as Latvia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania and the UK to create imaginative sculptural birdhouses telling their stories of migration to Birmingham and the Black Country and sense of home.

The project started small with the support of Creative Black Country before growing into a beautiful example of team and community partnerships that saw funding being awarded via Arts Council England, SCVO Vision 2030 Fund and Discover Sandwell.

Most of the 'designing and making' part of the project took place during lockdown - however when restrictions lifted the bird houses were eventually toured around Haden Hill House, Thimblemill Library and Lightwoods Park and House.

Celebrating 10 Years Films have been filmed and edited by Koru Films.
