Making Our Mark - A colourful collaborative celebration of tie die at the Lifegate Outreach Centre

There was another brilliant session with Lifegate as participants explored the heritage of Adire, the traditional Yoruba tie and dye technique that dates back to the 1800s.

The group learned about the meanings behind the colours, with green symbolising life and blue linked to love and royalty. Everyone got stuck in, binding cloth and T-shirts with string before dipping them into vibrant blue, green and red dyes.

The reveal was the highlight, as each pattern emerged completely unique. There were smiles and a few joyful dances as people celebrated the cultural threads connecting Africa and Walsall.
