Sharing Stories Over a Cuppa: Communi-Tea at the Dorothy Parkes Centre

This week saw the launch of Communi-Tea, a heartwarming new project from the Dorothy Parkes Centre in Smethwick, created as part of Creative Black Country and The Space’s Black Country Digital Firsts programme.

Blending conversation, creativity, and community spirit, Communi-Tea brings local voices together over a shared brew, with stories, memories, and laughter captured in a sound piece that celebrates connection and belonging.

Led by Projects Manager Christina Murray, the launch event was a wonderful gathering of residents, artists, and partners who have helped shape the project. Guests enjoyed listening to the final recording and reflected on the importance of small moments that bring people closer together.

Photographer Lee Allen captured the atmosphere perfectly with a mix of warmth, smiles and creativity in full flow.

The project is part of Black Country Digital Firsts, a Creative Black Country and The Space partner initiative that supports local creatives and organisations to explore digital storytelling and new ways of engaging communities.
