Freelance Opportunity: Creative Adviser, Sandwell
Title: Creative Adviser - Sandwell
Contract: Freelance Contract August 2025 to March 2026 (with potential for extension subject to funding).
Fixed Fee: £7000 inc VAT and expenses Sandwell (£200 per day x 35 days). Additional expenses upon request e.g. travel outside of Sandwell.
Location: Remotely and/or hot-desking at SCVO. CBC main office facilities are located at C/o SCVO, Office 109S, Castlemill, Burnt Tree, Tipton, West Midlands, DY4 7UF.
Key contact: Creative Director.
Hours of work: To be self-managed and logged according to planned delivery needs.
Tax and NI: This is a freelance position, and you will be responsible for making your own tax and NI contributions.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a Creative Adviser who will help embed creativity in Sandwell communities -working in ways that are participatory, inclusive and socially engaged. You will act as a local connector, facilitator and advocate — helping people bring their creative ideas to life, access resources, and connect with artists, partners and opportunities across the Black Country. You’ll be working closely with a dynamic and supportive team who are passionate about community-led creativity and committed to making meaningful change across the region.
This role is intentionally flexible and responsive to what local communities want and need. It might include:
•CBC Commissions - Research, encourage, and support groups to apply for CBC’s Creative Communities commission opportunities.
•Co-creation - Support individuals and groups to co – design and deliver creative activitywith care and intention.
•Embedded Support - Work closely with a specific project or group over a set period to build trust and enable meaningful, community-led engagement.
•Mentorship - Support creatives, artists, and producers by offering mentoring, guidance, constructive feedback, and by brokering connections.
•Strategic Engagement - Represent CBC in relevant networks and strategic meetings, contributing insights and strengthening partnerships.
