Over the summer we partnered with the ZEE Sandwell & Birmingham Mela to produce a creative space at the July event to add to the music and food offering that happens each year. We also engaged with the Mela Partnership to present Chappal: The Case of the Missing Sandal by the Bureau of Silly Ideas and Nutkhut.

The roaming performance tells the story of Aunt-ji’s favourite antique sandal that goes missing whilst on holiday and the resulting bumbling international investigation between Inspector Daal and Sergeant Sole.

Here’s a short video of the performance piece.

The Mela Partnership is dedicated to commissioning, touring and presenting high quality outdoor work and supporting festivals and events that transform small towns and cities throughout the UK. The Mela Partnership is a national touring programme supported by Arts Council England.
