Celebrating creativity in the Black Country with F Words

Earlier this year we asked artists Barbara Gibson and Marta Kochanek to help us bring some creativity and love to isolated families.

During lockdown many of us have suffered from not seeing our families so Barbara and Marta came up with the Love Letters to Family + Friends project that would use creative postcards and collaging to connect with a message of love to those we miss the most.

The creative duo provided packs of materials needed for this activity which included; pen, glue, plastic envelope and materials to make bespoke postcards along with Royal Mail stamps – so that in the end the postcards could be then sent to family members and friends of lonely, isolated older people.

The images above are a selection of the beautiful creations that were made.

The postcards were made up of a mix of vintage images and photography which were then cut up in to elements so that each person would receive a pack that they could then make their own postcards with.

About The F Words project

During the first half of 2021 Creative Black Country worked with people across communities in the Black Country, as well as our partners to work on projects that emphasise fun and positivity.

We know that for some of us the future is starting to feel harder to imagine; to see it, hear it or feel it. Issues around loneliness has been exacerbated by COVID-19 and the restrictions on our daily lives so The ‘F’ Words is our way of focussing on fun, fabulous, feel-good activities that look to bring people together.
