  • A brief introduction to The National Lottery Heritage Fund

  • Who and what can be supported under this grant programme

  • Applying for a grant from £10,000 to £250,000 under Heritage 2033

  • Heritage 2033’s four Investment Principles

  • Things to consider when developing an application e.g. how creative organisations and projects maintain the heritage focus

  • How to get pre-application advice on a heritage project idea

The National Lottery Heritage Fund is the largest funder of the UK’s heritage. Read about Heritage 2033 and its delivery plan for 2023-26.

Applications accepted from not-for-profit organisations, private owners of a heritage asset and partnerships. Here are some examples of the types of organisations:

  • charities, trusts and charitable incorporated organisations

  • community and voluntary groups

  • community/parish councils

  • community interest companies

  • faith-based or church organisations

  • local authorities

  • other public sector organisations

  • private owners of a heritage asset, for example a building, land, object or collection

Organisations need to have a bank account, a governing document, and two or more members that are not related or living at the same address.

Please note this funding is not suitable for individuals/freelancers unless you are working with a relevant organisation who will be making the application.
