Community Clay Workshops in Brownhills

Last week at Brownhills Community Centre, The Lamp’s Friendship Group and Places of Welcome UK coffee morning welcomed guests to get creative with a hands on Clay Tile Workshop led by artist Ruth Radcliffe.

The relaxed, sociable session invited participants to shape, carve and decorate their own clay tiles, sparking conversation as well as creativity. There was plenty of concentration around the tables, followed by proud smiles as each unique design took form. From delicate patterns to bold impressions, a collection of beautiful handmade pieces emerged over the course of the morning.

The workshops have been supported through Creative Communities, enabling local people to access high quality creative activity in a familiar and friendly setting. Support like this continues to make a real difference, helping community spaces such as Brownhills Community Centre offer inclusive, welcoming opportunities for people to connect.

The weekly coffee morning, held every Wednesday from 11.30am to 1pm, continues to grow as a warm and inviting place to spend time, meet others and try something new. It is a simple but powerful reminder of how creativity can bring people together.

With thanks to the group for sharing the wonderful photographs (originally via Facebook) that capture the spirit of the session so perfectly.
