INSIDE VOICES PLS! OPPORTUNITIES

Inside Voices Pls! is inviting women around Wolverhampton to get involved in an exciting creative project for International Women’s Month.

They are currently looking for:

• Women to take part in a new writing project

• An early career artist to be involved in the event

Inside Voices Pls! is an evening of performances celebrating female identifying experience, taking place at Wolverhampton Arts Centre. The project celebrates all things fem and centres lived experience, creativity and connection.

The project has been created, developed and produced by Al Gregory and Imogen Wood, two Black Country based theatre makers passionate about amplifying fem voices and narratives.

WRITING PROJECT PARTICIPANTS:

Participants are invited to spend Wednesday evenings over six weeks creating new writing around the themes of female experience and resilience. The opportunity is open to:

  • Anyone who identifies with the female experience, inclusive of trans cis and non-binary people

  • Any age

  • Any level of experience

  • Anyone wanting to try something new over the winter months and create something exciting

Sessions run every Wednesday from 5:30–7pm, 28 January to 11 March, at Wolverhampton Arts Centre. Activities include creative writing, poetry, discussion, music and movement.

Sessions are completely free to attend and offer a welcoming space to meet new people and get creative.

EARLY CAREER ARTIST OPPORTUNITY:

Inside Voices Pls! is also inviting applications from an early career artist to be part of the event.

They are looking for:

  • Applicants aged 16–25 years only

  • An interest or experience in the performing arts, including spoken word, music and song, dance and movement, theatre and more

  • Artists based in the West Midlands, with a link to Wolverhampton welcomed

  • Anyone who identifies with the female experience, including non-binary, trans and cis people

The commission fee is £200, covering preparation work and a short performance on the night. With a focus on long-term creative development, the successful applicant will also be offered a mentorship programme with a creative mentor, matched to their artistic interests.
