PROJECT: Community Journal
GROUP: Walsall Creative Factory

Walsall Creative Factory develops projects in Community and School settings in Walsall by fostering partnership and working with a variety of groups, neighbourhoods and organisations. The team provide life enriching experiences through the delivery of creative activities and events to support community cohesion.

Our idea is to make a collaborative creative response of the journey being made together as we go through this experience. We will create physical and on-line printable creative packs and resources that the local community can access. These resources will give them an opportunity to respond to their experience of social distancing through creativity expressed in words and/or pictures.

Each household can participate in whatever way they are able, whether by making art work, creating a self portrait, mood collages and drawings, writing a poem, an account of how people are feeling or constructing recipes of home cooked food.

We would like to encourage all family members to get involved in creativity that enables them to express themselves.

COMMENTS FROM PARTICIPANTS:

“I thought that having a virtual open mic that could be shared for everyone to see and enjoy was a great idea.  Having it shared on the blog means I can easily scroll down the acts and re-live the night.  Great effort from everyone to share their creativity and wonderful music.”

“Really enjoyed being part of the virtual open mics and experiencing the responses of those watching.”

“Inclusive, encouraging and helped to feel part of the community.”

“A strong community collaboration, new connections made and creativity increased.”
