Creative Black Country and Wolverhampton Grand Theatre Announce New Partnership to Support Creativity in Wolverhampton
Creative Black Country is delighted to announce a new three-year partnership with Wolverhampton Grand Theatre, which will see the theatre support community-led creative activity in Wolverhampton through Creative Black Country’s Creative Communities programme.
The partnership builds on an already successful relationship between the two organisations. In 2023, Creative Black Country worked alongside the Grand Theatre as part of the Culture Volunteer WM programme, supporting the theatre in developing and relaunching its volunteer offer. The collaboration helped create new opportunities for local people to get involved in arts and culture, resulting in a thriving volunteer programme that continues today.
The new investment will directly support Creative Communities in Wolverhampton, a programme that helps local people and community groups explore creative ideas that matter to them. From learning new skills and developing creative projects to experiencing arts and culture together, the programme is designed to reach people who may not normally have opportunities to take part.
“Creative Black Country is excited about the potential of this partnership and what it could mean for the future of audience engagement in the city”. Commented Creative Black Country’s Director of Operations and Development, Sajida Carr. “By working together, both organisations hope to create more pathways into creativity and culture, connect with new audiences, and ensure that more local people can experience the benefits of taking part in creative activity. This partnership represents an important shared commitment to making arts and culture accessible, welcoming and relevant to communities across Wolverhampton.”
As the partnership develops, Creative Black Country and Wolverhampton Grand Theatre look forward to exploring new opportunities to work together, deepening community connections, and supporting more people to discover creativity on their doorstep.
Tim Colegate, Creative Director of Wolverhampton Grand Theatre said: “We are proud to be part of Wolverhampton’s vibrant cultural offering and do all we can to positively impact the entire community in and around our city. We consider the partnership with Creative Black Country a vital step in furthering our commitment to collaboration, community and creativity and look forward to welcoming even more people to experience and benefit from Wolverhampton’s creative offering.”
