We’re thrilled to share that Creative Black Country has secured extension funding from Arts Council England, ensuring our continued impact through 2026!

After a 12-month project focused on regenerating a forgotten area of Wolverhampton using multiple arts interventions including; light, sound, sculpture, murals, AR, and a community garden, Asylum Art Gallery are ready to unveil the final artist’s work in the Chapel Ash island underpass.

Head down to the Mela Arts Village to catch Autin Dance’s The Giant Wheel, an exciting high-energy performance, and walk about stilt acts and puppetry with Jack in the Box.

Can you help us tell our story? The Creative Black Country team are looking for talented creative documenters (this includes, photographers, filmmakers, animators and illustrators, designers) to help tell our story in 2024 and 2025.

It has been an exciting year at Creative Black Country. As we respond to both opportunities and challenges the freelance team, and programme, has grown, we’ve supported a bumper year of co-created community projects and made lots of new partnerships.

We are looking for local creatives to deliver activities or workshops in a warm and comfortable space for local communities across the Black Country.

On Wednesday 12th October we held our first funding network event in person. Kindly hosted by Black Country Living Museum in their fabulous new Visitors Centre, it was lovely to welcome around 40 people, representing creative groups and organisations from across the region.

The second of our blog posts about the Cultural Bridge project comes from photographer Deborah Stone who also travelled to Lorrach in Germany to take part in the programme.

In the Spring of 2022 Wolverhampton based visual artist and street photographer Komlaish Achall went to Lörrach, Germany to take part in a new research and development programme called The Cultural Bridge.

Arts Council England has today announced that a total of £38.3 million will be invested in Creative People and Places projects over the next three years - made possible thanks to National Lottery players - to deliver more grassroots-led cultural experiences in areas across England where involvement in arts and culture is below the national average.
